Norah Jones vence en las principales categorías de los Grammy.<br>

«Nunca pensé, jamás me imaginé que la música que había creado se pudiera volver música popular, así que esto es asombroso», dijo la cantautora de 23 años, durante la ceremonia que la Academia Estadounidense de las Artes y las Ciencias de la Grabación celebró este año en el Madison Square Garden de Nueva York.

Jones, una artista casi desconocida el año pasado, ganó con «Come Away With Me» en las nominaciones de mejor álbum, mejor álbum pop y artista revelación. Asimismo, la canción «Don’t Know Why» le valió el triunfo en las categorías de mejor grabación y mejor artista pop femenina.

Además, el tema «Come Away With Me» le otorgó un Grammy a su compositor, Jesse Harris, y el álbum ganó las categorías de producción y mezcla del año.

Por su parte, el veterano Bruce Springsteen se llevó a casa tres premios por su producción «The Rising», inspirado en los trágicos acontecimientos del 11 de septiembre en Estados Unidos.

El artista, que interpretó junto a la E Street Band dos de las canciones incluidas en su álbum del mismo nombre, ganó en los apartados de mejor álbum de rock, mejor canción de rock y mejor cantante de rock masculino.

El trío Dixie Chicks también se impuso en tres categorías, entre ellas la de mejor álbum de música country por su producción «Home»; mientras que el salsero panameño, Rubén Blades, obtuvo la distinción de mejor álbum de música internacional con su disco «Mundo».

Ritmos latinos

En las categorías propiamente latinas ganaron Bebo Valdéz con Israel López y Carlos «Patato» Valdés, con su producción «El arte del sabor», en el apartado de mejor álbum tropical; la legendaria Celia Cruz triunfó con su álbum «La negra tiene tumbao» en el apartado de salsa y el grupo Manía obtuvo el Grammy al mejor álbum de merengue con «Latino».

El cuarteto mexicano Maná se alzó con el gramófono dorado al mejor álbum de rock/alternativo latino y el grupo Bacilos, cuyos músicos son de Brasil, Colombia y Puerto Rico, ganaron en la categoría de mejor álbum pop latino.

Como mejor álbum de música mexicana resultó vencedor «Lo dijo el corazón», de Joan Sebastián; y como mejor álbum de música tejana, la producción «Acuérdate», de Emilio Navaira.

El espectáculo comenzó a las 20.00 con la presentación del antiguo dúo conformado por Paul Simon y Art Garfunkel que se volvieron a unir el domingo para interpretar la balada clásica «Los sonidos del silencio».

Durante el espectáculo, que transmitió en directo la cadena CBS, también actuaron artistas como Eminem, las Dixie Chicks, Coldplay, Sheryl Crow, Avril Lavigne y la cantante de Rhythm and Blues Ashanti, entre otros
